Oh, Zakynthos, where do I even start. It was a piece of paradise that we can't stop dreaming about. It is like a therapy just looking back at these photos.
Can you believe those watercolors!
We stayed in Zakynthos Island for 4 nights, and it was just enough to relax in the pool and visit their popular beaches. The most famous is Navagio "Shipwreck " Beach. It was named one of the best beaches in Greece and Europe. And you can see why. The water here is unbelievable turquoise color, and beach filled with snow-white little stones.
The only way to get to the beach is by boat, and there are plenty of options for that. You can ask your hotel staff what would work best for you.
On our way back from Navagio Beach they took us to a few other beautiful spots where we could swim and enjoy the surroundings. It was quite an experienced that none of us wanted to end.
If you look closely, this stone formation looks like a face. Accounting to the locals it is the face of a sea God Poseidon.
You can also visit the official viewing spot of Navagio Beach, where you can see the beach from the top surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
Banana Baya Beach was our kids' favorite. It is very wide and shallow with golden sand that is ideal for kids. They did not want to come out of the water for hours! So if you are traveling with kids, this is the beach you should visit.
Porto Zorio Beach is another hidden gem of Zakynthos. It is surrounded by little mountains with emerging big rocks right on the beach. If you go snorkeling you can find some unique looking fish around those rocks.
And yeah, I photobomb someone else's wedding... 😁 Looked like a perfect spot for the big day.
"DANCE WITH THE WAVES, MOVE WITH THE SEA. LET THE RHYTHM OF THE WATER SET YOUR SOUL FREE."
- Christy Ann Martine
To me, there is nothing better than a quiet moment with yourself on the beach. Watching the summer sunset, reflecting on your life while listening to the sounds of the waves, the grandness of the Sea puts everything into perspective, and you never want to leave.
So long Zakynthos, until we meet again.
