Fragrant Isle Lavender Field at Washing Island - a dream location for photographers

Going to Lavender field was definitely on my bucket list. I always thought I would have to go somewhere to France to see it, but turns out I can see one without even taking a plane ride! Only about 5 hours car trip from where we are and 6 hours if you live in the Chicago area, and here I am!

It is our second time traveling to Washington Island. So we knew what to expect and made our plans ahead of the time. The first time we went for our honeymoon 12 years ago. I always wanted to go back one day. So bringing our kiddos this time made it all more special!

Fragrant Isle lavender field located in Washington Island, WI.  Door County.  You’ll have to take about half an hour ferry ride to get there from the mainland. While taking a ferry ride, you'll enjoy most gorgeous views. And it’s one of my favorite parts while traveling there.  If you decide to stay on the island make sure to book your hotel way in advance since there are no big name hotel, it’s really difficult to find a vacancy.

Best time to come to Lavender Field while it's in bloom during the month of July. We were there July 21st, and it was just perfect!

Just look at this charming spot!  When we arrived, I told my family to leave me here and pick me up on their way back. It’s really hard to describe how peaceful and beautiful it is, and the lasting scent of sweet aroma that fills the air.

I could admire this view for hours and hours.

If you decide to pick your own lavender buds, and you definitely should, the smell of lavender will stay with you for days!

They have the most adorable French style gift shop and bistro. Anything you wish lavender, you got it! Make sure to try their lavender macaroons, oh gosh, it is so so good!

I can do this all over again...

While you are on the Island make sure to visit their famous Schoolhouse rock beach with crystal clear water and beautiful different shape rocks.  It's been rated number one in the Door County for a reason!
